The NBPEIMMHL started off their regular season Friday September 25th, and five games were played in the opening weekend. The Fredericton Service Master Clean Caps and the Miramichi Honda Tim Hortons Rivermen are tied for first place after the opening weekend each with one win and one overtime loss earning the teams three points each. However Fredericton is leading the league with a goals for average of 5, and the Saint John Vitos has the lowest goals against average of 1.
Brodie MacArthur of the Kensington Monaghan Farms Wild is currently leading the league in points with two goals and three assists earning him five points. However, Creighton Sanipass of the Miramichi Honda Tim Hortons Rivermen is leading the league in with four goals. Jacob Stewart, goalie for the Saint John Vitos, is leading the league in both goals against average and save percentage with 1.00 and .955, respectively.
The league started off competitively with only one game ending with less than six goals combined, and two games ending in overtime periods. This was an exciting start to what will be a great season for all teams. The boys are back at it with six games next weekend, be sure to cheer on your favourite team in person!
