Seven teams played a total of six games in the NSMMHL last weekend. The Steele Subaru Major Midgets are tied with Weeks Major Midgets for first place, each team with six points. However, Steele is undefeated in their three games, whereas Weeks has played five games and lost two. Weeks Major Midgets is currently leading the lead in goals for with 19, but they also have 15 goals against which is the second lowest in the league so far.
Colten Ellis of the Cape Breton West Islanders seems to be the goalie to watch this season, as he is still leading the league in goals against average with .96, a save percentage of .98, and remains the only goalie with a shutout so far. Jake Martin of Weeks Major Midgets is leading the league in goals with four in his five games, and Chad Tucker of the same team is leading the league in assists with five in his five games.
The teams vary in how many games they’ve played so far, from Cole Harbour Pro Hockey Life Wolfpack only having played one game to Weeks Major Midgets who have played five, so it will be interesting to see how these standings and top players change when the games played evens out in a few weeks.
Remember to keep up to date with all the NSMMHL stats, and cheer on your favourite team in person next weekend! Good luck to all teams in the remainder of the regular season.
