The SMAAAHL is heading into the final month of the regular season, and teams are stepping up to get the last few points they need to obtain a playoff spot. There were a few high-scoring games this weekend: the Saskatoon Blazers defeated the Saskatoon Contacts 7-2, the Yorkton RawTec Maulers defeated the Prince Albert Mintos 6-2, and Beardy’s Blackhawks defeated the Swift Current Legionnaires 7-2. There were also some close games: The Battlefords Stars defeated Beardy’s Blackhawks 5-4, the Regina Pat Canadians defeated the Notre Dame Argos 3-2, and the Moose Jaw Generals defeated the Tisdale Trojans 4-3.
The Regina Pat Canadians are at the top of the league with 26 wins, seven losses, and four overtime losses earning them 56 points overall. The Moose Jaw Generals are close in second with 23 wins, nine losses, and four overtime losses earning them 50 points. The Tisdale Trojans are in third with 22 wins, 10 losses, and four overtime losses earning them 48 points, tied with the Yorkton RawTec Maulers who have 23 wins, 13 losses, and two overtime losses.
Ty Barnstable from the Canadians is leading the league in overall points with 19 goals and 28 assists earning him 47 points overall. Damian Bentz from the Maulers is leading the league in goals with 23, and Erik Gardiner from the Mintos is leading the league in assists with 33.
