2014 Atlantic Regionals Day Two: Halifax And Weeks Perfect At Atlantics

NEW GLASGOW, NS, April 4, 2014 - The Halifax McDonalds (NS) shut out the Saint John Vitos (NB) 5-0 in the noon hour game of the Major Midget Atlantics for their second win of the championships with five different skaters driving home pucks in the win and Reilly Pickard picking up the shutout. Pictou County Weeks also had their second win of the Atlantics besting the Central Ice Pak (NL) 3-1.

After a first period with no scoring the Macs scored just over two minutes in to put their first marker on the board then went on to scored another two to lead 3-0 when the buzzer went to end 40 minutes of play. They scored another pair in the third.

Barrett Dachyshyn opened the scoring with Justin Doiron and Luc Poirier adding the other two in the second. Dillon Boucher, on a power play, and Shawn Hubley scored in the third. Hubley and Doiron also added an assist each. Ethan Marsh picked up two helpers 

Pickard made 29 saves in recording his shut out and was named player of the game for the Macs. Krystian Matthews made 28 saves in the loss. 

The Weeks scored a goal in the first and added two in the third while the Ice Pak managed a solo counter in the third. 

Nathaniel Leger got the host team on the board with just over two minutes left in the first to put his team up 1-0 after twenty minutes. The Weeks then went up by two midway through the third on a goal by Lane Cormier but this time the Ice Pak came back to get back into contention with a goal by Graham Oldford.

With just 35 seconds left in the game Mark Vokey iced the game with a goal. He also had an assist on the second goal. 

Matthew Wiliams made 39 saves in the win. Noah Weir made 23 saves in the loss.
