Ten (10) BC Major Midget League (BCMML) alumni were
selected in the 2015 National Hockey League (NHL) Entry Draft in Sunrise, Florida. 

The BCMML continues to develop players to reach the next level of hockey and ultimately reach their goal of being drafted to the NHL.

  1. Matthew Barzal/Vancouver NE Chiefs - 16th New York Islanders
  2. Noah Juulsen/Fraser Valley Thunderbirds - 26th Montreal Canadiens
  3. Jansen Harkins/Vancouver NW Giants - 47th Winnipeg Jets
  4. Adam Musil/Greater Vancouver Canadians - 94th St. Louis Blues
  5. Parker Witherspoon/Valley West Hawks - 112th New York Rangers
  6. Brad Morrison/Cariboo Cougars - 113th New York Rangers
  7. Glen Gawdin/Greater Vancouver Canadians - 116th St. Louis Blues
  8. Devante Stephens/Valley West Hawks - 122nd Buffalo Sabres
  9. Matt Bradley/Valley West Hawks - 131st Montreal Canadiens
  10. Marcus Vela/Vancouver NW Giants - 190th San Jose Sharks
Of the players selected, nine (9) currently play in the Western Hockey League (WHL): Barzal, Juulsen, Harkins, Musil, Wotherspoon, Morrison, Gawdin, Stephens, and Bradley, and one (1) in the BC Hockey League (BCHL), Vela. 

All players have competed in numerous national and international events including:

  • Barzal, Gawdin, Harkins and Wotherpsoon brought home silver at the 2015 Men’s U18 World Championship and earned bronze at the 2015 U18 World Junior Championship with Team Canada

  • Vela played with Canada West at the 2014 World Junior A Challenge

  • Barzal, Harkins and Musil captured gold with Team Canada at the 2014 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament

  • Gawdin, Harkins, Juulsen, Morrison, Musil and Wotherspoon played for Team Pacific at the 2014 World U17 Hockey Challenge, bringing home the silver medal

  • Barzal, Bradley, Gawdin, Harkins, Morrison, Musil, Vela and Wotherspoon played for Team BC and helped bring home BC’s first gold medal at the 2012 Western Canada U16 Challenge Cup

Since 2004, over 70 MML players have been drafted to the NHL including: Brendan Gallagher, Sam Reinhart, Jake Virtanen,
Griffin Reinhart and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.
