FREDERITON, NB, March 26, 2015 - The Moncton Marks Work Wearhouse Flyers are the new New Brunswick Major Midget Champions after winning their game against the Fredericton Canadiens Thursday night 5-2. They will now go on to play for the Atlantic Major Midget title in Kensington PEI at the Atlantics April 2-5.
The Flyers roared out and built a 3-0 lead in the first then added singles in the second and third while holding the Canadiens to a pair in the second.
Captain Nolan Alward got the Flyers off to a flying start with a goal just over two minutes into the game on a power play. Kyle Ward scored the other two at even strength to give his team a 3-0 lead at the buzzer.
The final two goals were scored on the power play with Patrik Landry scoring at just about the halfway mark of the second and Chris Sarault adding the final tally near the midway point of the final frame.
Alexandre Gallant and Landry each had a pair of assists with Alward, Sarault, Felix LeBlanc and Alexandre Bernier contributing singles.
Reed MacKenzie and Andy Chiasson scored the two Canadien goals assisted by Sam Jeffrey, Nick Pellerin and Mika Cyr.
Julian Galloway made 26 saves for the win in net while Jack Grant faced 39 shots, kicking out 34 in the loss.
