Etobicoke, ON - The opening day of the 2015 TELUS Cup Central Reigonals is now complete with a couple close games and a blowout.
The games got started with a 2:30pm matchup between the Don Mills Flyers and the London Jr Knights.
The Flyers got the scoring started in the first and added a second midway through the second and appeared in control of the game.
However a late period powerplay gave the Jr Knights some life as the pulled to within goal entering the 2nd intermission.
Early in the final frame the Jr Knigths completed the comeback and knotted the score up at 2-2.
The teams traded some chances late in the game but neither team could capitalize. The final score was 2-2.
In game 2 the Ottawa Senators and Whitby Wildcats faced off.
The Wildcats scored early and often in the opening frame and held a commanding 3-0 lead early.
The Sens however battled back and got on the board late in the first to make things 3-1.
No scoring in the middle frame and the teams went to the third with it still sitting at 3-1 for Whitby.
The Senators added another to pull within a goal, however that was all the Wildcats would give up as they held on for a 3-2 win.
In the final game the host Toronto Nationals and Soo Thunderbirds battled it out.
The Nationals exploded for 3 goals in the opening period and added a 4th in the second period to jump in front 4-0 through 40 minutes.
The Thunderbirds continued to take penalties leading to more and more opportunities for the Nationals as they scored another 3 times in the third period to win the game 7-0.
