Moving up from midget AAA to the Ligue de Hockey Junior AAA du Quebec has not fazed former Lac St. Louis Lion Bailey Bilney-Morrissette.
“I love the challenge of stepping up my game,” Bailey Bilney-Morrissette said. “It is that much faster and more physical, bigger hits and I am enjoying the level of competition.”
As a member of the new team on the block of the LHJQ, the St. Lazare Revolution, left-winger Bilney-Morrissette has15-points in the first 16 games of the campaign with 11 of those points as goals.
“I’ve gotten off to a great start thanks to my teammates,” Bilney-Morrissette said. “We have good chemistry and are getting used to playing with each other.”
Making the adjustment to the junior level has also been thanks,” to my coaches, they have helped me improve my overall game,” he said.
“I am anticipating better and working hard in offensive and defensive situations.”
The play of this Hockey West Island product has earned him a spot on one of the two all-star teams the league will send to the upcoming Eastern Canada Cup Challenge taking place from November 13 to November 15 in Quinte (Trenton) Ontario.
Bilney-Morrissette will be joined by St. Lazare net minder David Hamel and the Revs head coach Éric Labrosse who will be part of the bench staff.
The round-robin tournament features the various Junior A hockey leagues in Eastern Canada, joining the LHJQ will be the MHL (Maritimes), Northern Ontario Hockey League (NOJHL), Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) and the Central Canada Hockey (CCHL).
The tournament will allow the players to scouted by recruiters from the NHL, the NCAA, the CHL and U-Sports (Canadian university network).
“This is a great opportunity to test myself against other players outside our league,” he said. “I’m looking forward to the event and getting to enjoy it with David.”
The Eastern Canada Cup Challenge is also an important tournament as players can get noticed as potential members of Team Canada that will compete in the World Junior A Challenge.
“I’m just excited to hit the ice and give it my best effort in the upcoming tournament,” he said.
