Minor Hockey Loses One Of Its Own
- Submitted by
Dear Hockey Community,

This is Rick Virag, President of MidgetAAACanada.com. Sadly, we learned of the passing of Wendy Dufton who was the backbone of the London Jr. Knights organization for so many years.

Wendy was the wife of longtime London Jr. Knights Midget Major AAA Head Coach Chuck Dufton.

I had the pleasure of working with Wendy for a number of years as the Knights came to our MidgetAAACanada.com Cup tournaments held in Windsor, winning the Gold Medal and Championship our Inaugural tournament back in 2008 and taking the Silver Medal in 2009.

The Knights have always been a super classy organization and whenever we reached out to Wendy about anything having to do with the team she was always enthusiastic, professional and very pleasant to deal with.

You could sense her level of dedication and passion to not only her team, but also to the minor hockey community at large and its growth.

We were shocked by the news and when I contacted Scott Greguol, our MidgetAAACanada.com Ontario Media Director and former longtime London Jr. Knights assistant coach Scott Greguol, he wrote back "Wendy was someone that didn’t like any recognition at all.  There was so much work that she did for the Midget AAA team and the entire Jr Knights organization that she would never accept any recognition for. The organization has actually needed to split her duties over multiple people."

This is surely a testament to her commitment and joy for helping our community and it's people like Wendy who exemplify everything that is great about minor hockey and what it means to all those involved.

With that being said, we would like to remind you to always appreciate those who give so much to make the players, families, coaches, teams, associations, organizations and leagues experiences special ones because without people like Wendy, it just wouldn't be the same!

Our love and prayers go out to the Dufton Family at this very difficult time from everyone here at MidgetAAACanada.com.

Much love and prayers,
The MidgetAAACanada.com Family
