Congratulations to the OHL Windsor Spitfires as they are crowned 2010 Mastercard Memorial Cup Champions. Our best wishes go out to Head Coach/President Bob Boughner, GM/Vice President Warren Rychel, Assistant Coaches DJ Smith and Bob Jones and all of the Spitfires Staff who work so hard.
Windsor defeated the host WHL Brandon Wheat Kings 9-1 in the Championship game after going 3-0 in the round robin portion of the tournament. In game one, the Spits faced the Wheat Kings and matched their offense from the final game by beating them 9-3.
Then they faced the Calgary Hitmen and continued their winning ways with a 6-2 victory. Next up was the QMJHL's Moncton Wildcats who put up a scrap taking the game into overtime, but a goal by Eric Wellwood at 12:22 gave Windsor their third consecutive win.
Spitfires phenom Taylor Hall won his second Memorial Cup MVP as he led all others in scoring with nine points consisting of 5 goals and 4 assists in 4 games for a 2.25 PPG.
Adam Henrique finished second with 4 goals and 4 assists for 8 points and a 2.00 PPG and Justin Shugg finished in a three way tie for third with 7 points on 2 goals and 5 assists.
